If I am called to see and perceive, shouldn’t I look?

Gift:  Understanding

Reading: He answered them, “The mystery of the kingdom of God has been granted to you. But to those outside everything comes in parables, so that ‘they may look and see but not perceive, and hear and listen but not understand, in order that they may not be converted and be forgiven.'” (Mark 4:11-12)

Observation: I am reading this morning that the mystery of the kingdom of God has been granted to us.  We are allowed to read the parables and the explanation that Jesus gave to his Apostles, and also see the completed revelation of the resurrection and ascension of Jesus and the continuation of his ministry through these same Apostles.  We are able to be converted and forgiven but only if we look at the Word, stay in the Word and partake of the Word made flesh, only then does the Word truly come alive and allow for our complete conversion and forgiveness of all our sins.

Personification:  Long-suffering (Positive Attitude) The focus for me today is on the fruit of long-suffering or keeping a positive attitude through all of the trials of life.  I know that God would not give us anything that we could not handle, in the words of my wife, so I will be able to thrive in the face of whatever this life brings to me and do so with real joy in my heart that comes from the grace of God and the knowledge that God will see me through them.

Prayer: Lord, give me the strength to persevere through the trials of the life and suffer for as long as is necessary to bring about true conversion of my heart, so that I may follow his will completely.  In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen.
