Reading: God so loved the world that he gave his only-begotten Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life. (John 3:16)
Observation: This verse is the beginning of the reading today from the Gospel for today’s Mass readings. I titled my journal entry, “I couldn’t resist…or could I have?” to pay respect to a joke that my son Chad says all the time where he ends what he says he wants to do with, “or could I have?”. However, my point of using this verse in my journal today is that even though I am no Tim Tebow, quarterback for the Florida Gators college football team, and I am not playing for the National Title with the verse written on my eye black tape to broadcast the message to the world, it is still important to get the message out there, even if it is in my own small way.
Personification: Goodness Again, the only way that I could show the goodness that comes from God in my life is by the grace of God. If left to my own devices, I would be in a constant state of sin, but by the grace of God he sent his son to save me from myself.
Prayer: Lord, help me to follow you will for me more directly and show your goodness to everyone I meet today and for the rest of my life. I ask this, as always, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
