Reading: For the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have come to believe that I came from God. (John 16:27)
Observation: To me, this verse is a continuation of John 3:16. This morning, I am feeling overjoyed at the fact that all I have to do is love someone who made a decision to die for my sins and the Father will love me. I guess God’s love is pretty simple when you look at it that way. In truth, God’s love is simple but it is human love that we make so complicated.
Personification: Chastity – Able to form loving and caring friendships, which help us to act appropriately with our gift of sexuality. If I can look at love with the lens of God’s love, that simple love, than it should be easy to form loving and caring relationships. However, I must be careful not to let sarcasm and the things of this world enter into those relationships, because that will always create a barrier to real authentic love that comes from the Father.
Prayer: Lord, help me to keep it simple in my whole life, but especially when it comes to loving and caring for others. I ask this, as always, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy Spirit. Amen.
