A childlike faith…

Standard

Googled, "Lord of heaven and earth"

Gift:  Piety (Reverence) – With the gift of reverence, sometimes called piety, we have a deep sense of respect for God and the Church. A person with reverence recognizes our total reliance on God and comes before God with humility, trust, and love.

Reading:  At that time Jesus said in reply, 14 “I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike.”  (Matthew 11:25)

Observation:  Today, in the midst of our Vacation Bible School, I am reminded by the Word of God that it is only with the faith of children that the truth is revealed to us.  It may start with our great sense of searching for the truth in a very intellectual way, but it ends with an acceptance of the fact that we are nothing without God or the search goes on forever.  It is only in total reliance on God that we can be set free from the our arrogance and pride.

Personification:  Chastity – Able to form loving and caring friendships, which help us to act appropriately with our gift of sexuality.  As I instruct others in my family and my community to accept others unconditionally, let me not forget my own responsibility to reach out to form loving and caring friendships with the people that God has brought into my life.  It is only by a real display of the fruit of chastity that I can begin to feel like I am following the will of the Father as it relates to my sexuality.

Prayer:  Lord, grant me a childlike faith.  I ask this, as always, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy Spirit.  Amen.
