I need more Mary and less Martha…

Standard

Googled, "I trust in you" but I knew what I'd find...

Reading:  The Lord said to her in reply, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things. 15 There is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part and it will not be taken from her.”   (Luke 10:41-42)

Observation:  I realized after reading this Gospel reading this morning that I need to be more like Mary and less like Martha and I need to know that God wills it, so it will be ok…There are enough Martha’s in this world to keep it going around for twenty centuries, but few Mary’s left.  I believe it is my job to stay focused on the Word and preaching it to the young people.  I have found that if I worry about anything, it completely incapacitates my ability to share the Word.  The one thing I think Jesus is talking about Mary doing, is spending time with the Lord and allowing the Word of God to infuse into your whole being, and that is the one thing that I neglect when I worry and become anxious about anything.

Personification:    Peace – Quiet, inner confidence that keeps us from feeling uptight and anxious.  Well, this one was easy to pick today.  It would be great if I could display this fruit of the Spirit at all times, because I think that is when I am being the best example of who God wants me to be.  Peace only comes when I have learned to accept that God is in charge and not me, and then I can be free from anxiety thanks to the grace and mercy of our Lord.

Prayer:  Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner.  I trust in you.  Amen
