Do your best to purge sin from your life…

Standard

Gift:  Fear of the Lord (Wonder and Awe) – With the gift of wonder and awe (fear of the lord), we are aware of the glory and majesty of God. A person with wonder and awe knows that God is the perfection of all we desire: perfect knowledge, perfect goodness, perfect power, and perfect love.

Reading:  Your boasting is not appropriate. Do you not know that a little yeast 5 leavens all the dough?  (1 Corinthians 5:6)

&

Then all who take refuge in you will be glad and forever shout for joy. Protect them that you may be the joy of those who love your name.  (Psalm 5:12)

&

But they became enraged and discussed together what they might do to Jesus.  (Luke 6:11)

Observation:  As the title for my post today says, I believe it is time for all of us to purge the sin from our lives.  As Paul asks the Corinthians in the first reading for the Mass readings today and the Psalmist continues in the Responsorial Psalm, we need to purge the sin from our lives to be a better example to those that would look to us for guidance.  If the sin that we carry with us, hangs around, it will take over eventually.  It will take over by the force of the sinful nature that we carry or by the simple fact that God does not want serious sinners to be near his chosen people.  Let us not be like the scribes and Pharisees from Luke’s Gospel reading for today’s Mass, and let us be thankful that Jesus saved us from our sinful nature and not go around pointing out the sinfulness of others.

Personification:  Chastity – Able to form loving and caring friendships, which help us to act appropriately with our gift of sexuality.  It will be my focus today, as I hope it will be everyday for the rest of my life to form loving and caring friendships, so that I will be able to always act appropriately with my gift of sexuality.

Prayer:  Lord, here we are again, another morning where I am asking for your help.  Please keep me in this place of understanding the need for your guidance today, until tomorrow when I ask again.  I ask this, as always, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy Spirit.  Amen.

Hanging out with a couple of my close friends yesterday for my birthday
