Gift: Fear of the Lord (Wonder and Awe): perfect knowledge, perfect goodness, perfect power, and perfect love.desire – With the gift of wonder and awe (fear of the lord), we are aware of the glory and majesty of God. A person with wonder and awe knows that God is the perfection of all we
Reading: 13 “Stop judging and you will not be judged. Stop condemning and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven. Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap. For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you.” (Luke 6:37-38)
Observation: It is not that I think we should be looking forward to the gifts that we will receive when we are giving, but it is nice to know that Jesus gave us this amazing imagery to ponder the gifts that will flow to us because of the charity that we show to others. The admonition that He mentions earlier in this Gospel reading is not easy, but if we can live our lives with this mindset of not holding people to debts and by not wanting to repay evil that is done to us, the grace that will flow to and through us is immeasurable.
Personification: Love (Charity) – Quick to sense the needs of the people with whom we work and live and respond as Jesus would. It will be my focus today, in my own little world, to display the fruit of love and charity by sensing the needs of those around me. I hope that I can act in a way that reflects the verses from the Gospel reading today.
Prayer: Lord, help me to display real charity to everyone that I meet today. I ask this, as always, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy Spirit. Amen.
