Gift: Wisdom– With the gift of wisdom, we see God at work in our lives and in the world. For the wise person, the wonders of nature, historical events, and the ups and downs of our lives take on deeper meaning. The matters of judgment about the truth, and being able to see the image of God.
Reading: Do you not know that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? (1 Corinthians 3:16)
14 His disciples recalled the words of scripture, “Zeal for your house will consume me.” (John 2:17)
Observation: I am hearing this morning in the 2nd reading from the Mass readings for today that our bodies are not only temples, but dwelling places for the Spirit of God. This knowledge means that I am capable of doing the will of the Father, because his Spirit dwells in me thanks to the work done by Jesus on the cross, whose death laid the foundation for my life in him. In the Gospel, the zeal that the disciples recalled from the Psalm relates to Jesus and the work he did cleaning up the outside of the temple. I see this morning that the work Jesus did cleaning up the inside of my temple has created that same zeal that consumes me.
Application: Faithfulness It is my hope that I can display the fruit of faithfulness in my life today and from now on in my life. I know that the faithfulness I show is a product of the grace that comes to me from God, even though I am a completely unworthy vessel for this grace. I will try to show this faithfulness by staying on fire for the Lord in every area of my life today.
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner. Amen.
