Gift:  Wisdom– With the gift of wisdom, we see God at work in our lives and in the world. For the wise person, the wonders of nature, historical events, and the ups and downs of our lives take on deeper meaning. The matters of judgment about the truth, and being able to see the image of God.

Reading:  And blessed is the one who takes no offense at me.” 7  (Luke 7:23)

Observation:  The gospel reading today ends with Jesus telling John’s disciples and us that if we can see Jesus for who he really is, not what we expected him to be, we will be blessed.  Since the reading ended with this verse today, it caused me to look at my mind about what I expected Jesus to be, and realize that he is not going to be who I want him to be.  He is just as he has always been, the God who became man, so that I could see that there is nothing greater than the love that our God has for us.

Personification:  Joy  I hope that today I can be about display the joy that comes from the knowledge that Jesus came to save us from our sin and not condemn us for it.  I should not get angry at God for not taking away all of my sinfulness, rather act out of joy at the forgiveness that comes from Jesus Christ, our Savior, who died so that we do not have to face judgement for our past sins.

Prayer:  Lord, help to act with a repentant heart today but do so with your spirit of joy in my heart for the good that comes through me from you.  I ask this, as always, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy Spirit.  Amen.
