Gift: Fear of the Lord (Wonder and Awe) – With the gift of wonder and awe (fear of the lord), we are aware of the glory and majesty of God. A person with wonder and awe knows that God is the perfection of all we desire: perfect knowledge, perfect goodness, perfect power, and perfect love.
Reading: Deliver us, pardon our sins for your name’s sake. Then we, your people, the sheep of your pasture, will give thanks to you forever; through all ages we will declare your praise. (Psalm 79:9b,13)
Forgive and you will be forgiven. (Luke 6:37c)
Observation: It is my hope that I can see the verses from the Responsorial Psalm coming true in my life today. I guess if I look at my surroundings and realize just how blessed I am to have a home and a family like I do, I should be able to see this Psalm has already come true. The end of the 37th verse is a challenge for me to remember to forgive others in the same way that God has already forgiven me.
Personification: Gentleness After last night’s meeting with the youth, it is important for me to remember to act with the fruit of gentleness with my family and not try to save the world through them. This is especially true as it relates to my boys, I will try to let them come to an understanding of their faith in their own time, with my guiding gentle hand leading their way to the Word of God and the traditions of the church to be an example of perfection of what they should be striving for.
Prayer: Lord, guide me in your ways, so that I can be a guide for the children that you have placed in my care. I ask this, as always, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy Spirit. Amen.
