Gift: Knowledge – With the gift of knowledge, we understand the meaning of God’s Revelation, especially as expressed in the life and words of Jesus Christ. A person with knowledge is always learning more about the scriptures and Tradition.
Reading: 7While they were going, some of the guard went into the city and told the chief priests all that had happened. They assembled with the elders and took counsel; then they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers, telling them, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came by night and stole him while we were asleep.’ And if this gets to the ears of the governor, we will satisfy (him) and keep you out of trouble.” The soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story has circulated among the Jews to the present (day). (Matthew 28:11-15)
Observation: If you read the footnote for the above verses, you will see that the principal question that the Christians and Jews of the time had been whether the disciples had stolen the body and hid it somewhere, as the Jews said or if Jesus Christ had really risen from the dead, as the Christians said. It is sad that after 2000 years of the history of the church and miracles performed in the name of Jesus, we still have some that would say it is not important to accept the fact that Jesus really appeared to his disciples, as we hear in the stories recounted by his disciples. It is important because this is the way that they decided to make sure we know that Jesus was alive, and if we don’t accept the fact that he rose again then, as Saint Paul says, we are a most pitiable people.
Personification: Faithfulness I have chosen to try to personify faithfulness a lot lately. I believe it is because it may be the one fruit of the spirit that takes the most work to display in my life. I work for the church, and there it seems to come naturally, but outside the church, showing the fruit of faithfulness takes a sincere effort of joining my will to that of the Father.
Prayer: Lord, it is my intention to be able to show the faithfulness that I have to the gospel message today and help to bring this good news to more people in the world. I ask this, as always, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy Spirit. Amen.
