Gift: Piety (Reverence) – With the gift of reverence, sometimes called piety, we have a deep sense of respect for God and the Church. A person with reverence recognizes our total reliance on God and comes before God with humility, trust, and love.
Observation: After journaling on this same Gospel reading sometime in the last two weeks, I have added a prayer to my morning prayers. It struck me when reading this reading again this morning that if by the woman’s great faith, her daughter could be healed. Then, by my faith in the same God and healing power that he bestows on us through his angels, I must believe that I too am healed of my affliction from the demon.
Personification: Patience It will be my intention to act with faithfulness, but to do so with the fruit of patience. I am waiting on the Lord to show me how to serve him, not waiting on Him to serve me. I hope that my faith can someday be like the woman’s in the Gospel story today.
Prayer: Lord, help me to have faith in you alone and allow me to pass this faith to my children. I ask this, as always, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit. Amen.
