Am I a “useless servant”? I hope not…

Standard
Gift:  Fear of the Lord (Wonder and Awe) – With the gift of wonder and awe (fear of the lord), we are aware of the glory and majesty of God. A person with wonder and awe knows that God is the perfection of all we desire: perfect knowledge, perfect goodness, perfect power, and perfect love.

Reading:  And throw this useless servant into the darkness outside, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.  (Matthew 25:30)

Observation:  I am hopeful that the talents that God has provided me, I am using to the best of my ability to build up his kingdom.  If not, I guess being called a useless servant would be better than what waits for me at the end of this age.  I am hearing today that I should be recognizing all the things that I have as gifts from God to be used to build up his kingdom, and I hope that I will choose in the future to use them all for his purposes.

Personification:  Generosity  I am usually ready to give of what I have monetarily to whatever cause needs the money, but I think I may have held back from my weakness out of fear of embarrassment of what others might think of me if they knew that I struggled with the same weaknesses as them.  I will try to be more forthcoming in using myself as an example in the future to help more people understand that we are all weak and we are in this church together reaching for the saving power that comes from God alone.

Prayer:  Lord, use me as a tool to bring more people into a relationship with your Son, so we can all see how marvelous and glorious you are to save us.  I ask this, as always, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit.  Amen.
