Gift: Knowledge – With the gift of knowledge, we understand the meaning of God’s Revelation, especially as expressed in the life and words of Jesus Christ. A person with knowledge is always learning more about the scriptures and Tradition.
Reading: For just as lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one side to the other, so will the Son of Man be [in his day].But first he must suffer greatly and be rejected by this generation. (Luke 17:24-25)
Observation: To me, this gospel reading today is speaking about what we are experiencing now in our world. So many people want to say that we are in the end times, but why don’t they look at God’s Word and see what Jesus said. I am not going to say anything about how he called out all those people who would be saying that we need to be aware of this occurrence and this other thing that happened, but Jesus is telling us today that we should think of every moment as if it were our last.
Personification: Self-Control When Jesus says that his coming will be like flashes of lightning in the sky, he is reminding us that not only will his coming be unmistakably him, but it will come quickly. Hopefully, I can use this reminder to tell me to stay away from sin in my life, because there will not be much warning before he returns and only by living a life that is repentant for all of my past sins, can the grace flow to protect me from future sinfulness.
Prayer: Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of death. Amen.
Amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Lord, let your praise be ever on my lips and repentance be always in my heart. I ask this, as always, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit. Amen.
