Why does it take a miracle to prove God’s love for his people?

Gift:  Knowledge – With the gift of knowledge, we understand the meaning of God’s Revelation, especially as expressed in the life and words of Jesus Christ. A person with knowledge is always learning more about the scriptures and Tradition.

Reading:  I decree that throughout my royal domain the God of Daniel is to be reverenced and feared:  “For he is the living God, enduring forever, whose kingdom shall not be destroyed, whose dominion shall be without end, A savior and deliverer, working signs and wonders in heaven and on earth, who saved Daniel from the lions’ power.”  (Daniel 6:27-28)

Observation:  As I read the readings for Thanksgiving Mass, I was not moved to journal on any of them.  However, when I read the first reading for today’s daily Mass readings, I immediately thought of how amazing it was that the King was praising the same God that he was forbidding anyone to worship.  I also thought of how much we are the same way when we wait for God to work a miracle in our lives before we praise Him for his goodness.  Of course, we say the words of praise at Mass, but how often do we seriously praise Him.

Personification:  Peace  I am hopeful that I can display the fruit of peace today.  Of course, it is wonderful that our little family will be together today, but I am already one step behind because I missed Mass this morning.  It is good that we are thankful for the many gifts that God has brought to us this holiday, but as I saw in a video last week it would be better if we could remember to be this thankful every day.

Prayer:  Lord, give all of my family thankful hearts to not only praise you today, but share the love that God loves us with.  I ask this, as always, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit.  Amen.
